  • Last Revision was done on November 4th.
  • All recently added commands are shown in green.
  • Listing all commands for Towny 0.76.2.0 (Towny Advanced).
  • A possibly more recent / updated version of this list can be viewed on the Wiki maintained by Llmdl.

Legend

  • This list breaks each command down by word. Eg: /resident set perm [on/off].
  • For resident commands, the add command would auto-match online players, while add+ requires exact spelling to choose offline players. In recent versions, the add+ for exact selection to be used with offline players has been merged into regular add command.
  • Just about every subcommand has it’s own help menu. Use /resident set, or a similar cutoff, to show all the options for that command ingame. You can also use /resident set ?, you will probably need to use that in the case where a subcommand actually has a function by itself. Example: /town claim, and /town claim ? would show all it’s subcommands.
  • The [ ] brackets are used to show variables, or what you need to fill in. The elipse “..” (or shortened elipse) is used to show that you can specify multiple things at once (like inviting 10 residents at once).
  • The [bleh ...] is used to show that the input can be multiple words.
  • An empty bullet represents that the subcommand itself does something and will not show a help menu.

Bank Accounts

You can directly manipulate town and nation banks as an admin by using your economy’s plugin commands with the either town-TownName or nation-NationName instead of a player’s name. Remember that the names are case-sensitive.

iConomy: /money give town-Blarg 123
BOSE: /econ set town-Blarg 100

Selection

The following is a subcommand for selecting ranges of plots found in the claim specific commands. /town claim [selection] ? /town claim rect [radius]. rect auto will calculate the maximum radius for you.

  • [selection]
    • [radius]
    • rect [radius]
    • rect auto
    • circle [radius]
    • circle auto

Permissions

The following is a subcommand for defining the permissions in a particular area. /town set perm [permissions] ? /town set perm [on/off]. Friend is used for residential plots, while resident is used for towns.

  • [permissions]
    • [on/off]
    • [friend/resident/ally/outsider] [on/off]
    • [build/destroy/switch/itemuse] [on/off]
    • [friend/resident/ally/outsider] [build/destroy/switch/itemuse] [on/off]
    • reset

Modes

Modes are specific to a player. You set them all at once. Eg: /res set mode [mode] .. [mode] ? /res set mode map townclaim.

  • [mode]
    • map
Towny’s map is displayed whenever you walk.
    • townclaim
Attempt to claim the area you’ve entered.
    • tc / townchat
Have your default chat output be sent to your town’s chat.
    • nc / nationchat
Have your default chat output be sent to your nation’s chat.

Mass selection with claim has now been limited to a default of 100 per selection. You can raise that limit in the config. While it should of been there before, ElgarL added it because the plot snapshots made during (un)claiming were seriously lagging the server.

    • Reply Shade

No. You can however, ask an admin if he will set an NPC as the mayor. /ta set mayor [town] npc.

You can set the plot to an embassy, they can then buy that and create a shop inside it [/plot set embassy]

been tryin to figure out how to set the town flag so the hostile mobs will
be removed when they wander /or chase a player into town

any help would be most appreciated

    • Reply Shade

Mob removal should be removing mobs every x seconds from anywhere where mobs are turned off. Try /town toggle mobs?

Hello, this is trigillass, in-game admin speaking. We are considering installing towny to our server but are concerned that it might interfere with another pluggin called Residence 2.3.9 by bekvon. Seeing as towny works on similar principles, coding errors may occur. We will try and keep you apprised as we progess. Thank you.

    Question regarding outposts:

Are you able to name an outpost? and are you able to change an outpost spawn/homeblock? Are you able to have spawns set for multiple outposts?

    thx in advance

    • Reply Alex

You can’t change the homeblock of an outpost unless you unclaim land in that outpost and claim it as an outpost (QUICKLY so nothing despawns from the unclaim regen) and you can stand in the outpost block and do /t set outpost to change the spawn. Also you can do /t outpost, /t outpost 2, /t outpost 3 etc. Depending on how many outpost you actually have to teleport to the different ones.

    How do you dissable pvp?
I tried differend commands, like /t toggle pvp off,…
    Plze help me!

Sorry I have this very strange problem, I was perfectly happy using /t outpost as it worked fine, but the server I am playing on introduced a new warp timer and now instead of it taking me to my outpost it places me at my town spawn, there is no way for me to find my outpost again and even though it still shows up that we have an outpost (and this is the only one we have) there is no way i can seem to warp there, any ideas?

I was wondering how to make it so someone could not build in my entire claim, well in none bar one. I tried the one listed, but It didn’t work.

Question 1) Are Assistants of towns able to kick other residents or is that just a mayor command?

Question 2) What is the command to make the town public so people can /t spawn (townname) there?

Question 3) What is the command to delete/remove an outpost and is it just a mayor command or is it an assistants command as well?

To create code blocks or other preformatted text, indent by four spaces:

This will be displayed in a monospaced font. The first four
spaces will be stripped off, but all other whitespace
    will be preserved.

Markdown is turned off in code blocks:

To create not a block, but an inline code span, use backticks:

Here is some inline `code`.
